Free & Low-Cost Healthcare Clinics
There are many healthcare options on the Northwest Side or nearby that offer sliding scale or free healthcare.
- Old Irving Park Community Clinic: Free primary health facility that’s been serving Chicago since 2007. Patients are seen by appointment only
- Primecare Community Health Center Fullerton: This clinic is located in Logan Square and provides quality, affordable medical care to an underserved population, regardless of ability to pay. Services include primary care for all ages, behavioral healthcare, dental and perinatal care.
- Tapestry 360 Health Albany Park: This clinic offers affordable and comprehensive primary care, oral health care, and behavioral health care services for the whole family. As a federally qualified health center, they guarantee access to care regardless of ability to pay.
- Compassionate Care Network: For those who are not eligible for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or any other government program (Medicare, Medicaid and SCHIP program), regardless of documentation status and financial resources, CCN provides access to affordable healthcare through a network of over 200 providers, including primary care physicians, specialists, dentists, allied health professionals, imaging centers, labs, pharmacies and home health agencies. Headquartered in Norwood Park.
- IWS Family Health: Located in Logan Square, this clinic provides a wide variety of services for adults and children, including primary care, reproductive healthcare, prenatal care, pediatric care and behavioral healthcare. IWS offers financial help to qualifying patients who are uninsured or underinsured and have low income.
- American Indian Health Service of Chicago: Located in the Mayfair neighborhood in Chicago, this clinic is the only Native American focused health clinic in IL. They are dedicated to providing quality culturally competent healthcare to the American Indian and Alaska Native community and underserved populations. In addition to health services, they provide informational sessions, AA meetings, activities and events.
Discounted Prescription Drugs
- GoodRx not only provides access to discounted prescriptions, but they also have some advice for those who have lost their Medicaid coverage.
- NeedyMeds: A nonprofit organization that helps people find ways to save money on prescriptions and other healthcare through diagnosis-based programs, patient assistance programs and access to coupons, rebates and copays.
Financial Aid for Serious Conditions
- Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) is a national 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization which provides case management services and financial aid to Americans with chronic, life threatening and debilitating illnesses.
- PAN Foundation: Since 2004, their financial assistance programs for disease, medications and services have helped more than 1.3 million people to start or stay on life-changing treatment
Self-Pay Pricing
You may also consider using a clinic that offers an a la carte model for health services, no insurance required.
- Innovative Primary Care has clinics in Logan Square and Wicker Park and the option of self-pay for health services. For example, one-off visits range from $175-$250, and annual exams are $250. Women's health physicals are $350 and children's annual physicals are $75.
Direct Primary & Concierge Care
Another way some people might be able to save money is via a Direct Primary Care or Concierge Care service. These clinics use a membership-based model where members have access to a range of primary care services with no health insurance required.
- Chicago Direct Primary Care: With plans at $150 or $250 a month, this practice offers unlimited in-person or virtual consultations, discounted prescription drugs and annual exams to members.
- Avaya Med: With membership plans for adults at $150 a month and for children at $50 a month, this clinic offers unlimited appointments, same- or next-day appointments for acute problems, discounted labs, medications and imaging fees, and annual preventative screening appointments.
- Encore Concierge offers membership plans for adults and children at $3,600 a year and includes comprehensive annual exams, labs and tests and unlimited access to your physician.

Ways to Support People Who Lost their Medicaid or Healthcare Coverage
- Volunteer with CommunityHealth: Every year, more than 1,000 volunteers give their time to ensure low-income, uninsured patients can continue to receive needed health care at no charge. Donating your time can help make a difference in the lives of those facing barriers to quality health care. Opportunities for medical professionals and non-professionals (translation services, yoga instruction, clinic greeters).
- Volunteer with Howard Brown Health: Howard Brown Health provides health and social services to more than 40,000 adults and youth and revolutionized healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community in Chicago. It offers volunteer opportunities its health centers, its 3 Brown Elephant Resale Shops, and in the community at street festivals, parades, health fairs, and fundraising events.
